We’re excited to welcome the Music Industry Associations of all three Maritime provinces – Music Nova Scotia, Music New Brunswick and Music PEI – to the Marcato Community. They’ll be using Marcato Festival to organize their next annual awards, conferences and showcases.
Provincial Music Industry Associations are an important force in the development of professional Canadian artists and music businesses. Marcato is excited to partner with these organizations to make their festivals, events and submissions processes run smoothly and efficiently so they can focus on programming educational and entertaining opportunities for artists and industry to interact.
Here’s a bit about each Association:
Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week is held November 3rd – 6th, 2011 in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Now in its 15th year, the event returns to Yarmouth for the third year in a row with all the goodies of years past, with an addition this year of hosting the COCA Eastern Regional Conference. The festival and conference includes educational and networking opportunities, celebration, and honour of our artists and industry professionals will be augmented by workshops, showcases, receptions, and two award events – the Industry/Music Awards Brunch and Gala Awards. Some conference events are industry specific, but all aspects of the event are open to the community through the purchase of a delegate’s pass or showcase tickets.
Music NB Week returns to Moncton, New Brunswick in October 2011. MNB Week is a three day cultural event during which emerging and established New Brunswick artists have the opportunity to present their material in showcases that are open to the public. They will also have the chance to meet and network with producers, promoters, and many other people involved in the Atlantic music industry. The second edition of the MNB Awards will take place at the end of MNB Week, on Sunday October 16th. This event will recognize the work of artists and other industry professionals who made a significant contribution to the New Brunswick music industry during the past year.
Music PEI, founded in 2001 as the Prince Edward Island Music Awards Association, is a non-profit member services organization devoted to advancing careers of Island musicians. Music PEI is actively seeking ways to promote, foster and develop artists and the music industry on PEI. The Association acts as an advocate for the Island music industry and a representative at the national table. Music PEI hosts the Music PEI Awards and Music Week in January of each year.
We’re proud to be an Atlantic Canadian company and we’re also proud that we built the foundation of Marcato Festival and Marcato Musician with hands on help from local artists, events and organizations like Joel Plaskett, Gordie Sampson, Celtic Colours International, Stan Rogers Folk Festival, Halifax Pop Explosion and the East Coast Music Association.
